A SERIES of public consultation meetings is under way over the possible merger of East Dorset’s hospital foundation trusts.
Some 30 people attended Poole Hospital’s Education Centre to watch a short film, hear a presentation from the bosses of the two organisations, and ask them questions.
More than a third of the audience were governors or staff, so were probably familiar with the message that a merger could give the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch and Poole hospitals their best chance of weathering tough times and improving services.
If approved, any proposals to change the clinical services each hospital provides would require further public consultation.
More meetings are planned for Wareham Corn Exchange on March 6, Wimborne Allendale Centre on March 14, Southampton Solent University Conference Centre on March 15, Greyfriars in Christchurch Road, Ringwood on April 3, and Royal Bournemouth Hospital education centre on April 3.
You can download the consultation document and give feedback online at poole.nhs.uk or rbch.nhs.uk, or call 01202 704271.
Deadline for feedback is April 25.
