THOUSANDS of blues fans are expected to flock to Purbeck for the biggest ever Swanage Blues Festival.
The award-winning event, now in its 12th year and boasting a number of top blues acts from across the UK, starts on Friday March 2, but the larger crowds are expected over the March 3/4 weekend.
Organiser Steve Darrington, pictured, said: “The 2012 Swan-age Blues Festival will be the biggest yet with 70 gigs.
“That’s a far cry from the first night of the first festival when it was just me playing piano in a pub.”
Artists set to play at a range of venues across Swanage, include the Blind Lemon Glid-ers, C Sharp Blues, Coalhouse Walker and Fabulous Fezheads.
There will also be open mic sessions and a host of buskers taking to the historic seaside town’s streets.
The festival has grown in stature and reputation over a decade and regularly attracts blues fans from across the world.
