POLICE have released camera footage of five people who may be able to help them with an investigation into a Christmas Eve assault in Poole.

Officers have only just issued the footage, that was taken from a bus travelling through Parkstone during the festive period.

A 39-year-old man was punched in the head and ribs at the same time the group got off the bus, around 6pm, near the Waitrose supermarket in Ashley Road.

The bus had been travelling towards Bournemouth at the time.

The shocked victim, who did not suffer any serious injury, was taken to Poole Hospital as a precautionary measure.

PC Julie Payne, of Poole police, said: “Following further enquiries, I am now able to release images of four men and a woman that I would like to speak with.

“I would urge the men and woman pictured – and anyone who recognises them – to contact me, in confidence, urgently.

“I am also appealing for anyone with any information to contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.”

Some of the men captured on camera are dressed in bizarre costumes and may have been attending a Christmas Eve party or similar event. Ashley Road would have been busy at the time of the alleged assault, police say.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 24: 368.
