You can share your interest in wildlife by joining one of the RSPB’s local groups. They are a great way to meet friendly, like-minded people in your area and to learn more about birds and wildlife. Indoor meetings are held once a month and there are opportunities to join field trips or get involved with conservation work.
The groups are run by volunteers so you can also get involved by organising talks, walks or fundraising. Groups promote and represent the RSPB in their local areas and their own program of events cover a wide range of topics and activities. There is something for everyone from talks and slide shows, coach outings, guided walks, helping to run a stall at a local fair, through to weekends away, helping with scrub clearance, or winding down at the Summer barbecue.
You don't have to be a member to join in and turning up to a meeting doesn't commit you. There is usually a small cost, some groups have an on the door entry fee and most have their own membership fee should you eventually decide to join the group. Find out where your nearest group is by going looking under the ‘Things to Do’ section on our homepage www.rspb.org.uk.
