Police want information after a 50-year-old Blandford man was discovered by a member of the public unconscious with head injuries.
The man was found in a walk way close to the Stour Inn around 2.15am.
The man is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at the Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.
Police said they believe the man had just crossed the Stour Bridge.
They asked anyone with information to call Weymouth CID regarding incident 59 of February 4, on 01305 226563, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
