A COUNCIL panel looking into the potential effects of the Poole Bay wind farm will hear evidence from a Bournemouth MP and an MEP tomorrow.

Both Tobias Ellwood, MP for Bournemouth East, and Giles Chichester, the MEP for the South West and Gibraltar will attend the wind farm scrutiny task and finish group as expert witnesses.

The task and finish group, which consists of three Bournemouth councillors, is looking into the possible effects of the Navitus offshore wind farm on the tourist economy.

At their last meeting, they questioned local tourism bosses about their views and were told that Eneco had carried out little or no consultation with the tourism industry. However, Eneco is about to carry out a series of public consultation meetings about the project.

The Navitus wind farm, built by Eneco, will comprise between 150 and 240 wind turbines that will be situated 10 miles offshore from Bournemouth and eight miles from Swanage and Christchurch.
