MONTHS of endurance training at sea have finally come to fruition for Carly Earnshaw with a 10-mile stand-up paddleboarding challenge.

The 27-year-old communications officer at Bournemouth Borough Council who, until the autumn, had never been on a paddleboard, was joined by Sean Taylor of Sorted Surf School for the three-hour trip along the River Stour from Blackwater to Mudeford.

She said: “I’m not sporty at all but when I heard Round Table Children’s Wish was asking fundraisers to travel 10 miles in an unusual way for charity I was inspired to help.”

The charity, which has its headquarters in Bournemouth, is urging others to take part in Round the World for Wishes – it’s hoped that by each travelling 10 miles, fundraisers will collectively travel the distance of the circumference of the globe and raise money to grant wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Carly and Sean completed the challenge in three hours and seven minutes and snacked on Jelly Babies along the way for energy.
