FOOTBALL manager Harry Redknapp said his wife thought he had been killed in a plane crash when police raided the couple’s home in Sandbanks.
Officers swooped on Redknapp’s Poole house after the soccer boss was arrested in 2007, Southwark Crown Court heard.
The 64-year-old said his wife, Sandra, was terrified as police set off the burglar alarm in the early hours.
When she looked out her window she saw the flashing bulbs of press photographers, jurors heard.
Redknapp said he was travelling back from a European match in Stuttgart, Germany.
The Tottenham Hotspur boss is on trial along Milan Mandaric over allegations of tax evasion.
Redknapp yesterday shouted at a City of London police detective for “staring” during heated court scenes. He looked around at Detective Inspector Dave Manley midway through questioning.
Redknapp said: “Mr Manley, will you please stop staring at me?"
Redknapp, 64, and Milan Mandaric, 73, deny two counts of cheating the public revenue at Southwark Crown Court.
