A WOMAN disturbed a would-be burglar in her garage and was punched in the face.

The 28-year-old was attacked in Marnhull, near Sturminster Newton, at 4.25pm on Monday, January 16.

Police only released details yesterday.

The lady, who lives in New Street, suffered minor facial injuries. Nothing was stolen.

Police Constable Pat McLoughlin, of North Dorset police, said: “The offender made off across the back garden that leads to an open area of land, bordering New Street, Chippel Lane and School House Lane.

“The offender was white, aged in his late teens, between five feet six inches and five feet eight inches tall and of a slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top and black trousers.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed this assault and attempted burglary, or has any information about the person responsible, to contact police urgently.”
