A PURBECK man will appear on television’s ‘craziest gameshow’ on Saturday in a bid to conquer the Winter Wipeout course.

Tristan Windebank, from Bovington, who is remaining tight-lipped about how he got on in the pre-recorded show, told the Daily Echo: “It was pretty good fun and quite challenging at times.

“But people are just going to have to tune into the show to find out how well I did.”

The 20-year-old dairy worker is one of 160 ‘foolhardy’ Brits selected to tackle the all new snow covered course, which boasts winter-themed obstacles and seasonal challenges.

Millions of viewers regularly tuned in to watch the programme’s sister show, Total Wipeout, which became a favourite with Saturday night audiences. Host Richard Hammond’s gentle mocking of the contestants adds to the atmosphere.

The Top Gear man is accompanied by Amanda Byram, who interviews contestants course-side at the set in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Rachel Hassall, from the show’s production company Endemol, said: “Contestants must manoeuvre their way past ‘Granny’s House’ watching out for the angry dog nipping at their ankles and a front door guaranteed to smack them in the face.

“Next they have to cling onto the Ski Lift to avoid plummeting into the icy waters below, and if lucky enough to make it to the all new Winter Wipeout Zone, they face being catapulted into the chilly waters.”

And the viewers’ favourite big red balls are back, albeit with a travelator propelling the contestants into the air above them.

Rachael said: “Winter Wipeout follows the success of Total Wipeout where the highest rating episode so far was Total Wipeout Celebrity Special, which aired last year with 7.53 million viewers.”

To cheer Tristan on, watch Winter Wipeout on BBC 1, tomorrow at 5.35pm.
