THE Highways Authority is to cough up cash towards a shuttle bus service around Canford Bottom roundabout when the busy junction closes on Thursday as part of a £5.7million overhaul.
Passengers on the Wilts & Dorset route 13 bus from Wimborne to Bournemouth will need to board a special shuttle bus service between Wimborne and Colehill when local roads onto the roundabout shut down for seven weeks.
The route is changing and some bus stops between Stapehill and Canford Bottom will not be serviced.
The Highways Authority agreed to help meet the estimated £30,000 cost of laying on the four-hourly shuttle bus service for commuters.
Ed Wills, Divisional Director for Wilts & Dorset, said the undisclosed sum was “essential”.
Mr Wills said: “The shuttle will help our drivers keep to timetable on the 13’s route between Ferndown and Bournemouth so we can keep the service reliable for others who do not travel as far as Canford Bottom.”
He added: “There is every chance that the disruption may also have a negative influence on the number of passengers we carry during the closure.”
Managers at Wilts & Dorset’s Poole depot will closely monitor other services in the Wimborne area.
