SOMETIMES a newspaper will revisit a story many years later to see what has happened to those involved.
The case of Charles and Harry Fynn of Bournemouth is one such instance.
We first featured them two decades ago – the young boys had been diagnosed with a genetic metabolic disorder called ALD and featured at the end of the Oscar-nominated film Lorenzo’s Oil.
The movie told the story of an American couple’s desperate search for a cure for their son.
Now Charles and Harry, 26 and 22 respectively, have become trustees of global charity the Myelin Project, to raise money for, and awareness of, ALD and related conditions. They follow their father Lionel, who has been a trustee since the early ’90s.
As Mr Fynn says, raising funds for a minority condition is tough, especially now. We wish these young men the very best of luck in their endeavours to promote a cause close to their hearts.
