Westbourne is the latest area to get a makeover courtesy of Bournemouth's Road Rescue team.

Improvement works started this week and are scheduled to last four weeks. These include resurfacing the section of Poole Road between Queens Road and St Michael's Roundabout.

Both pavements will also be resurfaced and kerbs replaced.

A new pedestrian island will also be built near Netherhall Gardens, to improve the crossing facilities across this section of Poole Road.

Motorists are being warned to expect some traffic jams while the improvement works are being carried out.

The relevant section of Poole Road will temporarily become one-way to traffic and a temporary pedestrian footway will be provided.

Westbound traffic will be diverted via Marlborough Road and Clarendon Road and westbound bus stops will be diverted via Marlborough and Grosvenor Road, with temporary stops provided within Marlborough Road.

Cllr Michael Filer, cabinet member for transport and technical services, said: “I am delighted that our Road Rescue team is returning to Westbourne after the work at Alumhurst Road and Surrey Road South.”
