A MULTI-MILLION pound development at Bournemouth Airport’s Aviation business park has reached completion.

MAG Developments has finished the £2.6million depot facility – purpose built for express delivery company City Link – on the business park.

The new 32,295sqft depot is home to 100 staff handling around 25,000 deliveries and 18,000 collections every week.

It covers from Salisbury to Weymouth and from Lyme Regis to New Milton.

Steve Jones, general manager of City Link’s Bournemouth depot, said: “The previous building served a useful purpose over an eight-year period but in those eight years our customer base and the expectations of our customers have seen a dramatic change.

“With these extra demands, this new purpose-built facility was overdue.”

The completion of the latest project marks a total, recent investment of more than £6million in Aviation Business Park by MAG Developments, the property development arm of the owner of Bournemouth Airport, the Manchester Airports Group.

In autumn 2009 they completed Cirrus Court – 14 units aimed at start-up businesses – and in spring 2010 it finished the 54,350sqft warehouse for Shears Bros Transport Ltd.

David Roberts, property development director with MAG Developments said: “The completion of this project not only represents another significant investment in Aviation Business Park but also demonstrates our commitment to providing efficient and realistically deliverable solutions for businesses that wish to locate at this popular, well-connected location.”

The 200-acre business park currently supports more than 185 businesses and more than 2,500 jobs.

An outline application for the development of new business premises was granted earlier this year.
