LEGENDARY singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen will take the top slot at Isle Of Wight Festival 2012.

Springsteen & The E Street Band will close the festival with a not-to-be missed show on Sunday, June 24 in his first visit to the isle and only third ever UK festival performance.

One of the most influential artists in the world, he is renowned around the globe for his rocking performances and poetic lyrics centred around his native New Jersey.

Expect hits from Born to Run and Dancing in the Dark from the Grammy, Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning artist.

The festival appearance marks only the second time the musician has ventured south of London for a live show – he appeared at Brighton in 1981. Fans feared he would never tour again following the death of E Street Band member Clarence Clemons earlier this year.

Now Springsteen and his band are preparing to release new material and take to the stage for their first tour since the saxophonist’s death in June.

Tickets go on sale on Friday from 9am.
