A FOUR-year-old girl knocked down by a cyclist on a Bournemouth pavement is making a good recovery.

Little Sienna Barnett’s left leg fractured in two places when she was hit by a man riding a mountain bike past her mother Bonnie Hill’s shop T&D Fruits in Southbourne Grove.

Her sister Georgia Barnett, who runs Starz Grooming Salon next door, heard Sienna’s screams and dashed outside.

Georgia, 18, said: “My mum and a friend were standing next to my mum’s car chatting as Sienna and a friend were coming out of mum’s shop.

“She took a couple of steps and the cyclist completely swept her off her feet.”

Georgia says she saw the cyclist, described as white and of slim build, with short, fair hair, cycle up the road and back again before the incident at 4.50pm on Saturday.

Dorset Police want the rider, aged in his late teens to early 20s and allegedly cycling without lights, to get in touch. He stopped briefly at the scene, a spokesman said.

Georgia says a passing pedestrian spoke to him before he rode off.

“My mum was so worried about getting to Sienna she wasn’t really worried about the cyclist,” she said.

“This man walking past saw it all happen. We’re hoping he comes into see how Sienna is and can tell us more.

“The cyclist landed on top of Sienna’s leg so he had to stop to get his bike off her.”

Sienna, a pupil at St Thomas Garnett’s, has been released from Poole Hospital with her leg in plaster.

She will return to see fracture specialists later this week.

“Luckily she didn’t bang her head but just fell into a funny position,” Georgia added.

“She was just holding her leg crying ‘My leg, my leg’.

“We’re very lucky she’s come out with just a broken leg. It could have been a lot worse.”
