A 20-YEAR-OLD man was fatally stabbed through the heart trying to settle an argument that began on a night out, a court heard.

Mahmud Ibrahim Bakir, 31, appeared at Winchester Crown Court yesterday charged with the murder of Kewen Khorsheed during a fight on a garage forecourt in Wimborne Road, Bournemouth. He denies the offence.

Bakir, of Wimborne Road, Nihah Assad, 24, of Southcote Road, Bournemouth and Zeravan Mohammed Natheef, 21, of Portchester Place, Bournemouth all plead not guilty to charges of violent disorder and affray on Thursday, January 27.

Ali Mohammed Sagivan, 25, of Norwich Road, Bournemouth faces the same charges but has absconded.

The Kurdish men’s dispute began earlier that night at Bar Zuka, in Charminster Road, culminating in a fight in the alley outside, the prosecution claims.

Police intervened and Bakir returned to his flat above Mike Stokes Garage in Wimborne Road with a friend shortly before 2am, jurors heard.

When Mr Khorsheed, Assad, Natheef and Sagivan arrived a while later, Bakir grabbed a kitchen knife and went outside, Prosecutor Christopher Parker QC told the court.

Bakir and Mr Khorsheed, armed with a stick, rushed at each other and were at first “equal protagonists” in the “dynamic melee” that followed, Mr Parker said.

Referring to CCTV stills, he added: “Bakir appears to concentrate his aggression on Khorsheed.

“He stabs first of all in the leg which causes Khorsheed to hop away in pain. Then he pursued and 13 seconds after stabs the knife again into the chest and into his heart.”

Bakir continued to advance as Mr Khorsheed collapsed to the floor, even kicking or stamping on his head, the court heard.

Sagivan, set on avenging his friend, fetched a knife hidden nearby and used it to attack Bakir, Mr Parker said.

These injuries were superficial.

Sagivan and Natheef then fled, discarding this knife near a skip at Denman Electrical Wholesales, in Malvern Road, the prosecution claims.

The knife that was used to kill Mr Khorsheed was found at a property in Hillcrest Road, the court heard.

The trial continues.
