A TRUST set up in memory of tragic Red Arrows pilot Jon Egging is set to receive a boost with the sale of an original watercolour.

Ferndown artist and Red Arrows enthusiast David Marks has created this stunning work to raise cash for the Jon Egging Trust.

And he has invited Daily Echo readers to bid for the oil on canvas painting.

Mr Marks has raised more than £1,000 for the Bournemouth Red Arrows Association in the past with two previous paintings.

One of a Tiger Moth at Compton Abbas sold for £750 and another of a Lancaster at Bournemouth raised £350.

Flt Lt Jon Egging died when his plane crashed at Throop on August 20, during the Bournemouth Air Festival.

Since then his widow, Emma, has set up the Trust with the aim of helping young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their full potential.

The Bournemouth Red Arrows Association has already raised £2,500 and members hope offers for the painting will be generous and boost the total.

Terry Trevett, chairman of the association, said: “We have already had some interest in the painting and we are delighted that Dave has made this donation. It is potentially a substantial bonus for our collection for the trust.”

Anyone who wishes to make an offer should do so by emailing braa@springbourne.org.uk and the closing date for bids if Saturday October 29.
