ALL this talk about bins in Poole does confuse me... and I’m a resident.

Ultimately, whatever councillors believe, resident who pay their council tax do not want to pay any more money for the collection of our bins when we’re already being charged.

Frankly, I don’t care what colour my bin is. All I want is for it to be collected when it’s full so I can fill it up again ready for the next time.

Yesterday’s collection came just in time. A frantic tidy-up in the garden last weekend meant that our hefty black bin was busting at the seams with garden waste.

It doesn’t happen often, but once my wife gets started, there’s no conclusion until everything’s done.

If the stuff we’d collected had to go in a green bin, I wouldn’t have a problem.

I certainly wouldn’t have a problem, as Cllr Mike Brooke suggests, in waiting every three weeks to have the blessed thing emptied.

For heaven’s sake, if it didn’t cost me an extra £31 a year, I’d make sure I climbed into the thing during that time to stamp down the leaves and branches.

Councillors certainly seems to be swaying like the tree that had its foliage unceremoniously removed in our garden and I’m all for councils who accept that some decisions take a little longer than others.

But there are enough people feeling aggrieved at the proposed charge to warrant a change of mind and heart.
