A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a reported serious assault.
Police officers were called to a report of a fight in Roumelia Lane, Boscombe, at 11am on Tuesday.
They cordoned off an area behind a set of flats almost opposite La Boheme art gallery and forensic officers examined the area.
A 34-year-old Bournemouth woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A 35-year-old man of no fixed abode has been in arrested in connection with the incident.
Several residents said they were told there had been a stabbing.
A Dorset Police spokesman said enquiries were at an early stage and no further details were available.
A shopkeeper said: “I heard girls shouting and somebody in the lane asked me to phone the police.”
Benjamin Robinson, from Moontree Gallery and Holistic Health Centre on Sea Road, said: “It’s awful this has happened because there are some really good people trying to lift the area up.”
