WIMBORNE Road chief Matt Ford has highlighted the team performance that guided Pirates into the Elite League play-off final.
Poole booked a two-legged tie with Eastbourne after beating King’s Lynn on Monday night.
Darcy Ward (18) and Chris Holder (13+2) stole the show as they went undefeated.
But Ford also praised Pirates’ middle and lower order as they covered the absence of skipper Davey Watt to play an important role in the 63-27 hammering.
Back from injury, Dennis Andersson (9+3) and Thomas H Jonasson (12+1) looked in fine form. Recent recruit Kevin Wolbert (9+1) also shone, with guest reserve Morten Risager (2+1) doing his bit.
Ford said: “Davey called for support from the rest of the team and said everybody else needed to come to the party. And they certainly did.
“Thomas was quite incredible and Kevin Wolbert and Dennis Andersson – who are going to be absolute stars – were amazing for team morale. Morten also did his job.”
Discussing Andersson, Ford added: “Dennis said he had no pain from his foot and that his hip was 95 per cent there. He is feeling confident and ready for it now.”
