A CAR and a police vehicle had to be towed free after they became stuck in the sand at Bournemouth beach on Monday.
Coastguards were scrambled to Bournemouth Pier at 6.20pm. Officers attended to help Dorset Police make sure the Toyota, driven by a man, did not float away.
The Toyota driver made it to safety but when a police Range Rover also got stuck trying to pull his car free, commercial recovery was needed.
The water was said to be up past their wheels.
• A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle on common land other than a road and is assisting police with their enquiries.
