THE Pavilion Theatre is to be haunted by not just one phantom but three, as home-grown West End star Earl Carpenter brings his show The Three Phantoms to Bournemouth this November 6.

The Daily Echo-backed show is as much a celebration of the careers of all those taking part as a homage to one of the most powerful stories in musical theatre.

The show will have five main performers and live music from the 30-piece Concert Philharmonia.

Matthew Cammelle has just finished touring as the Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, John Owen-Jones is starring as Jean Valjean in Cameron Macintosh’s 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables, and Anthony Gabriele is the musical director of Phantom in the West End.

The production receives a welcome dose of femininity from Rebecca Caine, who performed as Christine opposite Michael Crawford in Phantom’s early smash hit days.

Earl Carpenter started his professional career in the West End production of Les Miserables in 1996 and has since played many other principal roles such as the phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera.

“People love the mystique of Phantom,” he said.

“There have been 40 stage adaptations, so we have taken a real cross-section and gone with the most exciting adaptations so people will have a show that they really love.”

Earl was born in Southampton but grew up around Poole and Bournemouth where he became a part of the busy am-dram scene.

Last year Three Phantoms premiered to a sellout audience at the Medina Theatre on the Isle of Wight • The Three Phantoms is at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on Sunday, November 6, with tickets on sale now.
