CHERRIES boss Lee Bradbury has admitted he could look to bolster his central defensive options in the wake of Ryan Garry’s retirement.

Talented centre-half Garry last week announced he had been forced to hang up his boots at the age of 27 after failing to recover from a persistent nerve-related problem in his lower leg.

The former Arsenal man, who is now part of Bradbury’s backroom team, had been a key player for Cherries and losing him from the playing staff depleted Bradbury’s resources.

New signing Adam Barrett and first-team regular Shaun Cooper are both experienced players, while fellow defenders Mathieu Baudry and Mitchell Nelson are keen to prove themselves at League One level.

When asked about the prospect of strengthening his squad in that area, Bradbury told the Daily Echo: “We are looking at it because we would only need one injury and we would be struggling a little bit.

“We have got four with Mathieu Baudry, Shaun Cooper, Adam Barrett and Mitchell Nelson. But it might be an area that we might need to strengthen and we are looking.

“We have got a list but I am not sure whether it would be a permanent thing, a loan or even if we are going to do it at the moment.”

With the start of the season fast approaching, Bradbury is keen to finalise his squad.

He added: “I would want new signings to train with the lads and would want them to be involved as quickly as possible.”
