THE Purbeck Folk Festival has struck gold in the Purbeck Hills with a stunning summer line up.

The festival runs from August 26-28 at Langton Matravers and boasts a headlining turn from Seth Lakeman.

The talented folk star has won a string of awards since bursting onto the music scene in 2005, including a Mercury nomination and two BBC Folk awards.

Since the recent success of acts such as Mumford & Sons, Noah & The Whale and Laura Marling, there is a folk revival spreading through UK music.

Also set to appear at the festival are Glasgow-based Kan.

Kan is the brainchild of Brian Finnegan and Aidan O’Rourke, the front men of two of the most revered bands ever to grace the folk scene.

And if you thought folk festivals were just full of cardigan-wearing, beard-sporting, ale-drinking old fogies then think again.

Late night entertainment on each night sees Djambo take to the stage on Friday; last year’s festival hit Quinns Quinney set the long barn alight on Saturday night with the fabulous Sheelanagig finishing the festival on a high on the Sunday night.

With no less than three stages and over 40 bands playing, the Purbeck Folk Festival is becoming one of the most successful small scale festivals in the area. This year the festival moves to the August bank holiday giving an extra day of fun and entertainment. 3 nights of entertainment including camping is just £65 for adults and £35 for children under 18, plus under 10’s go free.
