A TEENAGE boy is “heartbroken” after thieves stole his expensive BMX bike from the garden shed last week.

James Arthur, 14, who lives with his grandparents Rita and Louis in Christchurch, discovered his £350 We The People-brand BMX bike missing last Wednesday.

The Twynham School pupil, who usually cycles to and from school every day, first noticed the bike missing from the unlocked shed when he went to meet a friend after tea on Wednesday evening.

His grandmother Rita Arthur, 61, said: “He is into his BMXing massively so at Christmas we scraped together £350 to try and give him this bike.

“He loved it so much.

“He’s so upset. He keeps saying he can’t believe his bike is gone – he lives for it.”

She added: “This is such a quiet area with so little trouble. We’ve never had any reason to lock the shed before now.

“He’s heartbroken. I don’t think we’ll get it back now.

“I just want to say to whoever stole his bike – ‘You just don’t know what you’ve done. You have broken my grandson’s heart.’ “But those sort of people don’t care. They just don’t think.”

James had customised his blue-framed bike with a turquoise saddle and a tyre with a red rim.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said the bike was reported missing by a 14-year-old boy last week.

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone who knows of the bike’s whereabouts to contact them on 01202 222222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
