FORGET travelling halfway around the world – this summer a taste of Brazil comes to Bournemouth with a series of performances of authentic Brazilian music and dance at Bournemouth Pavilion.

On Friday, August 19 the Rio Summer Ball will include a spectacular dance show, Brazilian dance bands and dancing until late. The day after there is the chance to relax in the afternoon with the cool summer sounds of top class authentic Latin Jazz and Bossa Nova performed by Jandira Silva.

Jandira is a highly accomplished singer having regularly performed at the National Theatre and the legendary London jazz venues. She will be accompanied by a quartet of top Latin musicians.

In the evening will be a presentation of the full two-act theatrical show Brasil – Eu Sou O Samba. This is a high-energy journey through the infectious rhythms of Brazil. The title of the show roughly translates as Brazil – I am the Samba.

Event director and principle dancer Vanita Da Silva Craker is originally from Sao Paulo in Brazil and says: “Our cast of top class professional Brazilian dancers and musicians perform all over the world. I am immensely looking forward to bringing the summer sounds, rhythms and colours of Brazil back to my hometown of Bournemouth.”

She added: “Our musicians will perform the authentic music of Brazil with percussion, vocals, guitar, saxophones and cavaquinho.

“The music is high quality, very infectious and creates a great feel good atmosphere. Our shows are for everyone and create a warm summer mood whatever the weather.”

Tickets for all events are on sale now at the Bournemouth Pavilion and BIC box offices.
