A HIGHLY-trained Royal Artillery Commando who toured in Afghanistan and Iraq has been named as the motorcyclist who died on the A31 last Friday.

Flowers have been left at the spot between Stag Gate and the Worlds End pub where Warren Jackson, a 43-year-old father-of-two from Poole, known to friends as ‘Jacko’, was killed in a four-vehicle collision.

Tributes, left next to pieces of the shattered silver Aprilia bike, paint a picture of a fun, happy and dependable man with “everything to live for”.

In a heartbreaking note, son Ryan writes: “Daddy, I love you to the moon and back. We had lots of fun together.”

Another bouquet carries the message: “You had everything to live for. It’s such a tragedy that your life has been taken in this way.”

Family on Facebook ask for friends to remember Ryan, Mr Jackson’s wife Natalie and daughter Georgia in their prayers.

Mr Jackson had spent more than 24 years in the military, finishing as Officer Commanding of the Royal Artillery display and recruiting teams, which includes motorcycle and parachute free fall shows.

After starting out as a military policeman, he served at Royal Marines Poole for 14 years, |finishing as team leader.

He was a trained chemical biological radiation and nuclear instructor, helicopter abseiling instructor and qualified coxswain.

Mr Jackson attended school at Whitefriars, in Cheltenham.

Martin Ablett, head of boys’ games and PE, still remembers the rugby team captain.

He said: “Warren was an |excellent rugby player and athlete. I remember him as being quiet but popular amongst his fellow pupils and he was a pleasure to teach.”

Police believe Mr Jackson was riding south west along the road at Almer at 6.40pm when he was involved in a collision with a silver BMW travelling in the opposite direction.

Officers arrested and questioned the 41-year-old male driver, from Devon, before releasing him on bail.

He and the other drivers involved, a 28-year-old woman in a black Rover and a 24-year-old woman in a red Daihatsu, suffered minor injuries or shock.

Police are appealing for any |witnesses travelling in the area at the time, who may have seen the BMW between Bere Regis and the scene, to call PC Davis on 01202 222222.
