THE glory of Bournemouth’s picturesque sandy beaches was beamed around the country on Tuesday as BBC Breakfast chose the idyllic spot to present their early morning weather forecasts.

Bathed in the morning sunshine, early risers visiting Bournemouth beach managed to get a forecast for Easter first-hand thanks to BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood.

The smiley Scot was situated on the pristine beach just in front of Bournemouth Pier presenting the weather live.

Some passers-by stopped to have a chat and a photo while others just stood and watched from afar and some, having spied her on television, rushing down to have a look for themselves.

Carol said: “I am loving it down here this morning.

“I love Bournemouth and this is practically perfect.

“The waves lapping on the shore, the pier – it’s just idyllic.”

And she had some good news for people regarding the weather over Easter bank holiday.

“It’s going to be warm and sunny. Clear on the coast although obviously a little cooler but very settled. Perfect for a lovely bank holiday.”

A spokesperson for Bournemouth Tourism said: “National coverage is always a bonus for Bournemouth as it is a great opportunity to show off our beautiful beach.

“We hope to welcome more coverage in the coming months as summer approaches and the weather warms up.”
