STAFF and pupils at Portfield School’s residential facility are celebrating after the provision was awarded “outstanding” in their latest Ofsted inspection.

The service, which offers up to 52 weeks flexible boarding, was praised for its specialist support and “excellent provision for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residential students.”

Registered by Ofsted as a children’s home, Portfield School has four modern purpose built residential boarding houses on the main school site at Parley.

The report said the staff provides high levels of supervision which “helps to ensure the safety of the students”.

The on-site support team which includes a nurse, speech and language therapists and occupational, behaviour and alternative therapists were also highly praised.

Director of social services, Andrew Thomas said: “We are naturally delighted with the excellent results from our latest inspection.”
