A MAN received serious injuries after a stabbing in Bournemouth town centre at 6.30am on Saturday.

Police said a 28-year-old man was seriously assaulted and had multiple facial fractures and several stab wounds to his body.

Officers cordoned off eight flats at Bettina House above Golden Needles tailors on Commercial Road.

The injured man was in a stable condition and was due to undergo further surgery. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Police were at the scene into the afternoon and a forensic team examined the property.

Yasar Yildiz, from Golden Needles tailors, said: “The police put tape across my door. They said it was serious and it was in one of the flats.”

Ruben Moss, from nearby Hirsh hairdressers, lives above the salon, and said: “The police said it was a stabbing. They knocked on my door at 8am.”

Violet Lewis, 47, a resident of nearby Norwich Avenue, said she had been told an injured man had been asking for help in the street outside the flats.
