CARRYING an olive branch, they’re a sign of peace.
Instead, this little dyed-blue dove was found lost and alone in Ferndown’s Ham Lane.
Nicknamed Mr Blue by his carers at the RSPCA, he has a bit of colour back in his wings but inspectors are still hoping to reunite him with his owners.
They tried calling the phone number on one of his ID bands, but no one answered.
RSPCA Inspector Graham Hammond said: “The bird was coloured blue possibly for a prank or to match a colour scheme for a function.
“Although the bird may not have suffered, dyeing any living creature in this way sends out a very worrying message that animals are nothing more than novelty accessories and we will be offering the owner advice on this matter before the bird is returned.”
Anyone with information should call 0300 1234 999.
Mr Blue will be put up for adoption if no one comes forward to claim him.
