THE King's Park track and field season closed with Bournemouth AC's Multi-Events meeting.

Some exceptional throwing from BAC's under-13s stole the show from the conventional multi-eventers. Alex Cox threw 31.82m to go top of the UK U13 discus rankings. His 37.87m in the javelin was almost as impressive, but this was surpassed by club-mate Dan Whisken with 38.01m.

The more experienced Cox won the throws quadrathlon, an aggregate of the four Olympic disciplines scaled down.

The meeting also saw the longest under-15 girls' hammer throw in the country this year - 46.07m by Newbury AC's Helen Broadbridge.

Poole AC's South of England combined events bronze medallist Richard Reeks won the senior decathlon title, while Jon Boyle of Poole Runners, sixth at Bedford last week, was the top under-20.

BAC's Lee Manvell and Dave Pearson of Wimborne AC took the minor senior places in the seniors, while Chris Moore and James Ozanne completed Poole Runners' clean-sweep in the junior class.

Dr Julian Kennedy racked up an impressive total as the only over-50 competitor.

Wimborne AC's Emily Tabb beat Maria Seager of Poole Runners to the under-20 heptathlon title.

The age group multi-event winners were - Sian Long, Fergus O'Reilly and Alex Kennard for the host club, Ed Moyse and Gaby Rowsell (both PAC), Paul Green (PR) and Georgia Hurd.

BAC veteran Andy Turner took the senior weight pentathlon with hammer 46.58m, shot 13.56m, discus 40.63m, javelin 35.48m and weight 14.54m.

Matt Frampton's third place included a 53.77m throw in his specialist hammer event.
