THE final wood of the match from Bournemouth's Terry Chivers all but destroyed Alexandra Park's lingering title hopes and virtually handed the championship to Boscombe Cliff.

Alex led 81-79 going into the last end but Bournemouth held two shots before skip Chivers drew a crucial third against Derek Ames to give the Meyrick Parkers a 12-2 (82-81) triumph.

Colin Bingley, Jeff Gordon, Dave Sewell and Bob Curtis (22-13) took top honours for Bournemouth with the Alex consolation coming from Alan Trevett, Dave Hodgkiss, Mark Wanklyn and Paul King (32-11 against Graham Shadwell).

Not even fielding a three-man rink after Dean Morgan was an 11th-hour absentee could prevent Boscombe Cliff from capturing a 12-pointer (73-61) at Knyveton Gardens. Frank Wells, Gary Taylor, Alan Geary and Chris Martin (23-7) propelled Boscombe with Eric Sole, Mike Thayre, Deric Pritchard and Dave Hart (25-10) replying.

That 82-81 scoreline at Meyrick Park was duplicated at Poole Park where the hosts were pipped by Wimborne who were led to an 11-3 verdict by Ben Paulley, Peter Laundon, John Pudney and Chris Weekes (22-14). Maurice Foord, Barry Higgins, Peter Wilson and Bob Atkins (26-14) cheered Poole.

It was Wimborne's second handsome haul of the week as in a rearranged fixture they slam-med Bournemouth 12-2 (103-60).

SECTION TWO

NEW Milton jumped to the head of Section Two with their 12-pointer (93-58) against Highcliffe coupled with the 12-2 (84-70) demise of previous leaders West Moors at Boscombe Cliff A.

Steve Hockham, Paul Willis, Bob Burns and Brian Jones (25-8) were New Milton's driving-force and David Grindon, Trevor Welch, Ken Wright and Stan Patch (22-16) earned Highcliffe's reward.

Bill Ashworth, Mike Stainer, Steve Hack and Brian Everard (23-14) gave Boscombe the upper hand while Peter Rhodes, Paul Beards, John Hill and Roger Blackie (28-20) spared West Moors' blushes.

Fordingbridge edged above Electric into third place when outgunning the Sparks 10-4 (88-70) helped by the 30-10 stormer from Norman Anton, Ken Owen, Bob Mellors and Ted Gunn. Alan Trickett, Nick Cleary, Richard Haynes and Les Rogerson (25-15) were Electric's finest.

Ian Cameron, Arthur Cox, Ron Taylor and Colin Moss enjoyed a 37-12 romp when Braeside tamed Richmond Park 12-2 (115-56), Les Deadman, Alex Findlay, Mike Lodge and Dave Snow (23-22) clinging on for the losers' response.

SECTION THREE

CHRISTCHURCH clambered out of the bottom two with a 12-pointer albeit by just 77-75 against Wessex A. Joe Spicer, Bill Whitcher, Brian Graham and John Bishop (25-16) proved the difference for the Priory towners even though Les Brown, Bernard Sturgess, Peter Edwards and Brian White (24-7) fared even better for Wessex.

Champions elect Southbourne A sunk Iford Bridge 12-2 (87-73) with Archie Nisbett, Mike York, Mike Newton and John Hutchinson (25-15) at the helm. Mark Farrant, Denis Gardner, Brian Sedgwick and Alan Doughty (23-11) kept Iford afloat.

Birthday-boy Len Tolladay combined with Terry Davis, Dave Glascodine and Rex Gale (29-17) to be the premier Knyveton Gardens A rink in the 10-4 (88-75) success against Kings Park whose stalwarts were Mike Smith, Alan Thompson, Andy Darch and Chris Brown (24-17).

A 31-17 sparkler from their highly consistent quartet of Ken Carter, Ken Priddle, Reg Robinson and the Yorkshire grit of Danny Watson proved the difference when Lymington polished off Moordown 10-4 (85-78). David Wanklin, Tony Nelson, Tony Wanklin and Alan Tavener (24-14) were Moordown's best.

SECTION FOUR

NEW Milton A took a major step towards the title with a 10-4 (88-59) triumph at second-placed Redhill Park. A 36-6 belter from Dennis Barton, Joe Kelsey, Derek Johnson and Roger Herlihy inspired the leaders while Les Blackmore, John Williams, Fred Wiseman and Eric Jones (20-14) boosted Redhill.

Swanage nipped into second place following their 12-2 (82-64) success against Poole Park A. Mark Sheppard, Derek Smith, John Mansell and Ron emmitt (26-12) were the Swanage aces and Roger Tidby, Peter Martin, Ken Harding and Gordon Brown (22-18) saved Poole from oblivion.

Roy Tutt, Ray Ollis, Brian Tester and Dave Smith (28-16) were the biggest contributors when Ringwood A overcame Braeside A 10-4 (87-80) in their derby date. Gordon Walter, Trevor Sams, Mike Bull and John Burbridge (26-16) kept Braeside in the hunt.

SECTION FIVE

MILFORD sealed promotion in spectacular style with a maximum (111-56) against Kings Park A whose recent revival hit the buffers. Harry Hart, Derek New-land, Ken Penfold and Viv Bailey (29-12) were in full flow for the table-topping seasiders whose next goal is the title.

Swanmore took a major step towards joining Milford on the rise after roasting third-placed Argyll A 12-2 (97-61). Mike Cadle, Roy Thompson, Terry Tuck and Geoff Simmonds (31-13) were the Swanmore standard-bearers and Lloyd Hemmings, Dennis Winfield, Harry Dunbar and Brian Gatrill (19-18) saved Argyll's bacon.

A 35-12 stunner from Ken Bolt, John Coles, Bill Aspinall and Albert Toulouse did the trick as Boscombe Cliff B undermined Lymington A 10-4 (100-82). Bill Merrett, Jim Slade, John de Jersey and Dennis Wanklin (28-22) bit back for the Foresters.

SECTION SIX

SOUTHBOURNE B were crowned champions after a 12-pointer (81-73) against Branksome Park B.

John Telford, Chris Broomfield, Gwyn Davies and Jeff Bliss (25-10) led the celebrations while Bill Harris, Roger Aspray, Geoff Judd and Peter Dixon (27-12) kept Branksome afloat.

A 35-11 humdinger from Terry Barter, Jim Baker, Malcolm Long and Brian Roberts was all Ferndown A need to conquer Knyveton Gardens B 8-6 (79-66). Bill Davis, Murray Bacon, Peter Sant and Mike Ball (22-16) were the pick of the Gardeners.
