COUNCIL tax is to be frozen in Bournemouth this year councillors agreed last night.
Council leader, Cllr Peter Charon told the special meeting of Bournemouth Borough Council: “There will be no increase in council tax for Bournemouth residents in the coming year.”
However, he added that he “could not make binding promises” about the future.
It means that the average, Band D, council tax remains at £1,498.68.
Afterwards Cllr Charon told the Echo: “It is the first time since 1993 that there’s been no increase in council tax.”
Earlier, Cllr Charon chatted with protesters who had gathered outside the town hall to protest against cuts to services.

Members of Bournemouth and Poole Anti-Cuts Coalition held banners with slogans including, ‘No cuts here’ and ‘Cut tax evasion, not day centres’.
Protester Tricia Dunleavy, from Bournemouth, said: “He wasn’t convincing me that he’s not going to cut anything.”
