A FASHIONABLE Bournemouth bar faces an uncertain future after Dorset police applied for a review of its licence.
Klute/Funki Sushi in Exeter Road has been named in a notice announcing that police applied to Bournemouth council for the review on Wednesday last week.
Police said the application has been made because they do not consider the premises is promoting the licensing objectives of “public safety” and “the prevention of crime and disorder”.
Members of the public have until March 10 to make representations.
Owner John Isik said: “We are open for business.”
Klute was one of a number of premises forced to close temporarily last month after a visit from representatives of the Home Office.
In a separate move, councillors have refused applications for licences for four temporary events at the premises. Licence holders had asked for licences for events in February and March, lasting between 30 and 72 hours.
The Daily Echo recently reported that upmarket nightclub The Studio and Priva on Poole Hill has had its licence taken away after police reported concerns about assaults, drunkenness and drug use. The venue remains open, pending an appeal against the decision.
Anyone who wants to make representations about the application for a review of Klute/Funki Sushi’s licence should write to The Licensing Team, Environmental Health and Consumer Services, Bournemouth Borough Council, Town Hall, St Stephen’s Road, Bournemouth BH1 2LL.
