BOURNEMOUTH Air Festival representatives are heading for the European Airshow Convention (EAC) in a bid to woo more international teams to the event.

At the end of February, event manager Jennifer Impett and PR and marketing boss Michelle Roberts will travel to the event in Brussels to pitch for more top teams from around the world.

It was something that paid dividends last year as the Dutch F16 Fighting Falcon – one of the highlights of the weather-hit 2010 festival – was secured at the EAC this time last year.

Jon Weaver, air festival director, said: “There’s a fantastic buzz about the event among the air show circuit and this is a first-class opportunity to showcase the award-winning festival at an industry and international level.”

Last year the Bournemouth delegation was invited to present to the convention following the huge success of the first two events in 2008 and 2009.

Jon added: “After last year’s outstanding presentation, Jennifer and Michelle successfully secured the Dutch F-16; they will be bidding for us in Europe again later this month, so fingers crossed for more great results.”

Organised by the European Airshow Council, the two-day EAC is a chance for people involved in air shows across Europe to share ideas and improve their events.

Attendees at this year’s convention will include air show organisers and performers, aerobatic teams, commentators, aviation authorities, national military and civil authorities.
