THE second Swanage Comedy Festival line-up has been announced.

Established radio and TV star Bob Mills will join newcomers Ellis James and Sean Percival on the main night of the three-day festival.

Organiser and vice-chairman of the Swanage and Purbeck Hospitality Association Julian Maughan said: “We were delighted at the success of the first festival in October, which enabled us to make a sizeable donation to our favourite charity, Heroes Haven.”

The festival, starting March 24, boasts open mic nights and comedy screenings before the Saturday finale.

All three comedians will perform a set at each of the three featured venues on the night – Bay View Caravan Park, Swanage and Herston Football Club, and the Royal British Legion.

Comperes Andy White, Erich McElroy and Pierre Hollins will host a venue each.

Commenting on last year’s inaugural festival, which was backed by comedy heavyweight Al Murray, Mr Maughan said: “The event was so well received and enjoyed by residents, visitors and the acts alike. We had no option but to make this a regular fixture in the Swanage calendar.”

March’s event will be the first of two comedy festival’s organised by the hospitality association.

“We have the March festival and a big autumn finale planned for September,” said Mr Maughan. “Everyone loves to laugh and this town is renowned for putting on terrific events.

“We are bringing high quality comedy entertainment to Swanage and rapidly gaining and enviable reputation for the town on the UK comedy circuit.”
