A DELEGATION of students from Bournemouth’s Avonbourne School visited 10 Downing Street this week to show their support for a global education campaign.
Six girls met local MP Tobias Ellwood before handing in a petition in support of the One Goal Campaign.
The petition unfurled to become a huge banner, bearing a personalised message to Prime Minster David Cameron from every student at the Harewood Avenue school, explaining why they back the campaign.
“It is fantastic when a whole student body unites behind a campaign,” said Bournemouth East MP Mr Ellwood, who escorted the girls to Downing Street during their visit to London on Monday.
The One Goal Campaign was inspired by the 2010 FIFA World Cup, calling upon world leaders to provide education for all and give schooling to 69 million more children across the world by 2015.
The campaign aims to bring together the power of football and politics to create a lasting legacy from last summer’s World cup in South Africa.
