YOUNG chefs have displayed their culinary talents in a competition organised by the Ferndown Rotary Club.
Eight budding gourmets aged from 13 to 16 prepared a range of exciting dishes in the kitchens of Ferndown Upper School to tickle the taste buds of a three-strong judging panel of local chefs.
The youngsters were given a budget of £15 to prepare and produce a three-course meal within an allotted cooking time of just two hours.
Waitrose sponsored the competition, handing cash prizes of £60, £40 and £20 to the top three competitors.
The winner also received a silver salver from Waitrose and a week’s work experience at top Dorset restaurant, Les Bouviers, in Merley.
Youngsters were competing in the local round of the Rotary Club’s national competition.
The winner and runner-up will compete in the district round on February 12.
