There is no need to tell you how I feel about you but I have to vent my anger, you have hurt me several times, many a time I have wanted to destroy you but you are too big, too powerful.

I bet you are laughing right now, I am probably just a number to you and when my son was diagnosed at the tender age of 2 you showed no mercy, you simply didn't give a damn.

Whilst I struggled tediously with high and low sugars you merely spectated with an evil grimace. Did you give me inspiration, no you didn't, did you give me hope, no you didn't. You just gave me heartache after heartache, hurdles I couldn't always cope with and you gave me despair.

I bet you have waited for Eddie and I to fall apart, give in to you, become another hospital statistic. How wrong you are Mr D, you are messing with the wrong person.

You will never ever take us over, we are going to fight you every step of the way. Eddie and I are armed with insulin pens, high tech meters (bet you didn't think we would ever have such help 50 years ago). We are constantly finding ways to outwit you and soon we will be laughing at you.

You can run Mr Relentless, Mr Nasty, Mr Selfish, but we will find you.

You make me angry, very angry. You want us to deny you, forget who you are but guess what opposition is constantly growing. Diabetes UK are always talking about you, JDRF are pulling out all the stops to raise awareness about you, to get rid of you. How could you curse innocent little children. We even have a day especially to highlight you, World Diabetes Day. Believe me we are not giving you admiration we as a nation want you exposed for what you really are, making everyone aware how complicated you are, how harsh you are when our children are sick, poisoning them with your toxic ketones. You care not for the constant deliberating hypos. You are heartless and thoughtless and if I could get rid of you myself I would, without hesitation.

So Mr D, be very careful, I am praying your days are numbered. You won't be missed.

Type 1 Diabetic and son.
