BOROUGH of Poole is to shed up to 10 per cent of its workforce.
In a bid to balance the books between 150 and 200 redundancies will be made from the 2,050 strong staff by the end of March next year.
Cuts will be made across all services, with none safeguarded, and a 90-day consultation period with trade unions and staff has begun.
"We will be consulting with staff and trade unions on these proposals but sadly the scale of these cuts will mean compulsory redundancies are unavoidable," said Cllr Elaine Atkinson, leader of the council.
The borough needs to reduce its net expenditure by at least £29m over the next three years.
The council has also announced plans to restructure its library service. None of its 10 libraries will close or reduce their opening hours but 21 library staff are at risk with 12 likely to lose their jobs.
