THERE'S certainly a hint of Aliens about The Impossible Planet & The Satan Pit, the chilling two-part story that dominates the latest instalment of David Tennant's stirring first reign as The Doctor.
Trapped on Sanctuary Base with only a small band of humans and the odious Ood for company, it's a cracking tale whose atmosphere give it a much darker feel than some of Series 2's episodes.
But there's a much lighter tone to Love & Monsters, a fun tale of fan worship for the Doctor that puts him in danger when Peter Kay turns up as the vile Abzorbaloff. Marc Warren also guest stars as a computer geek and there's a fine comic turn from Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler.
