POLICE have appealed for help to find a mobility scooter driver who failed to stop after hitting a blind woman.

The 50-year-old victim, Alison Bartlett, suffered a fractured left wrist and has had to put her five-year-old guide dog into temporary care until she recovers.

She had been using her white stick as an aid when she heard the sound of two mobility scooters coming towards her.

One of them collided with her white stick, causing it to flip up and strike her wrist.

She told the Daily Echo: "I remember walking towards the High Street and I could hear two mobility buggies coming towards me.

"The next thing I knew one of the buggies must have hit the bottom tip of my cane.

"I felt very shocked and shaken afterwards. They did not even bother to stop and say sorry.

"I'm very nervous about going out again but I know it is something I'll have to do.

"I am very upset that my dog has had to go into temporary care because I cannot look after him.

"I am left-handed so everyday tasks are very difficult for me."

Alison is now recovering at home and hopes that she will be reunited with her guide dog as soon as possible.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident in Station Road, New Milton, outside the garden of the Rydal public house between 1pm and 1.30pm on Thursday, July 27.

If you can help call Lymington Police Station on 0845 045 4545 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
