TWO more Boscombe drug dealers are behind bars thanks to a police crackdown.

Ian Andrews, 31, and Michael Wilson, 41, were among 29 people caught in Operation Dismantle raids earlier this month as part of a move to stamp out drugs.

Special officers stormed dealing dens across Lansdowne, Boscombe and Westbourne, seizing drugs, cash and stolen goods in the hope of making the areas safer for families.

On Friday Andrews, from Grosvenor Gardens, was sentenced to three years in prison for supplying methadone, and Wilson got 30 months for supplying Class A drugs.

Sentencing, Judge John Harrow told the men: “You two have certain things in common.

“It is clear to me from all the evidence that you are both hopeless addicts, out of work and with no stock.

“You were fairly easy prey for a police operation, it has to be said.

“This needs a serious prison sentence, though full credit for pleading guilty. But it’s difficult to see how, being caught red-handed, you could have formed any defence.”

To Wilson he said: “You have a long history and record of dishonesty and drugs.”

The drugs busts also saw officers out on the streets talking to residents about their worries, and at the time Detective Inspector Michael Mullen urged addicts to get help.

“Women working the streets and drug dependants are the victims here,” he said. “We want to reach out to the drug addicts and work closely with them. This is an opportunity to get help. Now their dealers are gone and there’s a gap in the market, we appreciate there’ll be a need for drugs.”
