FOOTFALL at the Sovereign Shopping Centre, Boscombe, is up say centre bosses.

Figures for August show an average weekly rise in footfall year-on-year of 2.3 per cent and an average increase of 1.3 per cent against the national benchmark.

Peacocks has seen an increase in trade of up to 11 per cent year-on-year; The Perfume Shop was up by 50 per cent; and New Look also reported that it was trading well and is the top store in the area.

Centre manager, Bill McPherson, said they were “delighted” at the centre’s strong performance.

He said: “The centre has also welcomed new stores over the summer when Sports Direct joined us and the signs are that this has proved an additional attraction to customers.

“However we’re delighted that some of the stores that have been with us since we opened are continuing to do very good business in Boscombe including New Look and Peacocks.

“We’re looking forward to hearing how our other new signing Aura Jewellery goes over the coming weeks.”

The Sovereign Shopping Centre launches its new website next week and a Facebook fan page for keen local shoppers to keep up to date with new deals and promotions.
