BUCCANEERS boss Garry May has welcomed the news they will meet table-toppers Newport in the National League title play-offs.

And he has also revealed Bournemouth Castle Cover are aiming to strengthen up their side ahead of the two-legged semi-final clash.

Buxton meet Dudley in the other last-four tie, although no dates have been agreed for any of the meetings yet.

After finishing top, Newport’s reward was being able to choose who they wanted to meet in the semis and National League co-ordinator Peter Morrish confirmed yesterday they had decided on fourth-placed Buccaneers.

May said: “I think we have a good chance of beating Newport over two legs, especially with them being without Mark Jones for the rest of the season.

“We just have to go out there and do our best and see where it takes us. We’re underdogs and no-one is expecting us to do well in the play-offs.

“But Weymouth won the title after finishing fourth two years ago and that inspires us to try and do the same.

“We’re also looking to strengthen up our side by making a couple of changes.”
