DAY TWO of the Animal Windfest saw "great conditions" on Saturday, with plenty of wind for competitors and sunshine to please the crowd.

The 12th annual Windfest, sponsored by Animal, had 10 competitions, with people arriving from as far away as the Dominican Republic to compete for a cash prize and the title of UKWA Freestyle Champion.

Event organiser Gary Willingham said: "This year has been better than last year.

"We haven't had a Windfest with sunshine and wind, so everyone is happy."

He continued: "There is such a relaxed atmosphere. People are falling asleep on beanbags and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves."

Other popular competitions included stand-up Paddle-Boarding sprint races and a race around Brownsea Island.

The beach was lined with concession stalls ranging from water sports equipment to clothes and jewellery.

The Red Bull Skate ramp and Wake Boarding Pool drew the biggest crowds along the promenade.

Gary said: "We have been raising money for the Richie Keefe Life and Soul Trust, along with Help for Heroes."

The biggest name at the event was 21-year-old, five times World Kitesurfing Champion, Adam Hadlow from Worthing. He said: "It's always great coming to Sandbanks, I rarely get to come to an event like this in the UK.

"Windfest is one of the biggest events in the UK for freestyle competitors."

The evening concluded with a superhero-themed party and live music. Rock band Basketcase headlined the event and were supported by Checking Pulse, Big Face Reggae, The Adam Issac Band and The Monster Trucks.

Basketcase said: "The evening was electric. The crowd were awesome and really made the evening a night to remember."
