SQUEEZE, who play O2 Academy, Bournemouth, later this year, are set to release Spot The Difference, a greatest hits collection, next month.
The album is so named because it features 14 songs that have been re-recorded by the band, sticking as closely as possible to the original versions.
Formed in South London in 1973, and armed with Glenn Tilbrook’s winning melodies and Chris Difford’s pithy lyrics, the band boast a tremendous back catalogue, with songs such as Cool For Cats, Pulling Mussels (From The Shell), Up The Junction, Tempted, Black Coffee in Bed and Take Me I’m Yours.
Difford and Tilbrook have put their Ivor Novello-winning partnership back into gear and started writing the first new Squeeze material in over 10 years, although there is no set date to record anything just yet.
To herald the new album, Squeeze have chosen Loving You Tonight as its first single. Originally sung by Paul Carrack, and never released as a single in the UK, the re-record has vocals by Tilbrook.
The 22-date tour of the UK features dates in Bournemouth (November 14) and Southampton Guildhall (December 6).
