This “extraordinary story of one man and his ape” is as heartwarming and fascinating a tale as you’ll find.
Having grown up with the Monkey World phenomenon unfolding just down the road in Wool, I have long admired head keeper Jeremy Keeling – after reading this touching biography, I like him even more.
From uneasy and bizarre beginnings, surrounded by animals (and an extremely odd family) from birth, this unique man has always had a strong bond with fauna – and in particular the orang he raised from birth.
Funny and frequently amazing, this life story goes by in a blur – its style is not sophisticated literature, but nor should it be.
Like Jeremy, it is what it is.
